We LOVE What We Do!
To collect, store and distribute free diapers and baby related products to homeless shelters, food pantries, family service agencies, and faith-based organizations
To educate the local community about the devastating crisis of diaper need.
To support and expand upon our existing relationships with shelters and community organizations in the South Florida area.

During a long drive on a humid summer day in June 2012, Jonah Schaechter of Miami, FL spent the duration of the trip contemplating his community service project for his Bar Mitzvah. With a rapidly approaching deadline and no truly meaningful ideas, he had an epiphany after listening to a story on National Public Radio (NPR) about the efforts of a national diaper bank. Intrigued by the narrator’s effort to set up a diaper drive and distribute the collected items, Jonah felt compelled to start a similar initiative.
To maximize the success of his community service project, Jonah asked his school for permission to set up a drive. Several posters and one box later, Jonah’s drive accumulated around 10,000 diapers. Pleased with the results, Jonah then looked to his temple for additional support and subsequently dropped off another box for collection, which was quickly filled. Nearing the end of his community service project, Jonah tirelessly searched for a local diaper bank where he could donate the collected items. Shocked by the realization that one did not exist anywhere in Miami, Jonah felt that he had met with too many families in need and collected enough supplies to show that there was a real need for a diaper bank in his city. After sharing his conclusions with his father, Roberto Schaechter, the two of them, along with his sister Arielle, decided it was time to address this widespread and overlooked issue hands-on.
What started out as a small community service project for Jonah is now the first established diaper bank in Miami. As a registered 501(c)3 organization since August 2014, the Miami Diaper Bank’s mission is to collect and distribute diapers and other baby related products for low-income families and their children while raising awareness about the need for diaper donations and advocating for policy change on a local and state level.
We're so grateful for the support of our generous past & present corporate sponsors and amazing community partners!
